External Environmental Review

Yosemite Falls
The power of upper Yosemite Falls is inspiring, as shown in this view taken from the halfway point between the valley floor and the top of the falls. NPS photo by James Miller.

External Environmental Review refers to the monitoring and review of proposals by other agencies that may affect NPS resources or programs. Through external environmental review, the National Park Service comments during the process required by the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) and other laws to ensure that potential impacts to NPS resources and values are considered.

The Environmental Quality Division's External Affairs Program coordinates NPS review and comment on external agency proposals.
