The NPS monitors air quality at Yellowstone NP. This monitoring was initiated as a study related to snowmobile and snow coach use in the park. Cameras have been used to qualitatively monitor emission impacts on visibility since 1996, and webcams began running in late 2007. Images of San Diego Bay and downtown San Diego are collected from the northwest corner of the Visitor Center. The San Bernardino Mountains, about 150 miles away, are visible on clear days.
