Big Bend Regional Aerosol and Visibility Observational Study (BRAVO)

Big Bend Regional Aerosol and Visibility Observational Study (BRAVO) investigated the cause of visibility reducing hazes at Big Bend National Park. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA), the National Park Service, and the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality sponsored the study. Other contributors were the Electric Power Research Institute and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. Members of nongovernmental organizations and representatives of the utility sector also participated. One of the outcomes of study was identifying and quantifying the contribution that selected geographic source regions (Eastern and Western U.S., Texas, northern Mexico, and other areas in the U.S. and Mexico) have on the hazes in the park.
