Battell Biological Preserve
The virgin hemlock-northern hardwood stand within Battell Biological Preserve illustrates a pristine, climax, New England forest. Hemlocks reach a diameter of 30 to 40 inches and heights over 100 feet. Located on a steep, rocky mountain slope, the undisturbed site is used primarily for educational purposes.
