Nay Aug Gorge Park and Waterfall, Pennsylvania
Michael Poster
"Nay Aug Gorge is part of the recently revitalized Nay Aug Park in Scranton, Pennsylvania. It’s a beautiful area that was closed to the public and virtually inaccessible for many years. |
Capitol Rock, Montana
Bill Schreier
"The site is nationally significant as an erosional remnant, carved in white clay and sandstone, that resembles the capitol building when viewed from the east. It is visible from as much as 50 miles out in the prairie and served as a landmark for wagon trains traveling across the Dakota Territory. The foreground road is a remnant of the original wagon road and now serves as a 4 wheel drive access road."
|
Anza-Borrego Desert State Park, California
Margi Brooks
"The photo depicts striking examples of some of the various desert plant communities found in this NNL, which is significant for its Colorado Desert Vegetation."
|
Corkscrew Swamp Sanctuary, Florida
R. J. Wiley
"This photo represents my best attempt to capture the magnificent grandeur of the old growth cypress forest at the Corkscrew Swamp Sanctuary. The 2 ½ mile boardwalk is the public’s pathway through the forest."

"A variety of wetland habitats are found in Mendon Ponds Park and they support a rich diversity of plant and animal life, including some species rarely found in other parts of western New York. This photo shows a wetland area along with the influence of beaver in the park."
