The kettle hole pond and floating, sphagnum-ericaceous bog mat found at Ell Pond are bounded by red maple-Atlantic white cedar swamp and steep, glacially-abraded, granitic monadnocks. The presence of both hydric and xeric plant communities provides opportunity for ecological research and education. Ownership: State, private.
