Diversity: Women in Science and Related Fields
The essence of a park is its resources and the essence of a park's staff is its diversity. Hence the National Park Service must have highly qualified and diverse staff to know, understand, maintain, and protect those resources unimpaired for the enjoyment of future generations. Many parks hire biologists, botanists, ecologists, geologists, hydrologists, physical scientists, and education specialists or positions in similar professions to help obtain this goal. They aslo hire some in the technology fields such as GIS.
There are mentoring resources available from various sources, as well as professional societies and other resources to help women in the science fields, including the following:
