John Day Fossil Beds in Oregon is one of the worlds most complete fossil records and is an excellent example of how climate and life change through time. It is unique because the fossils found there span a vast amount of geologic time, nearly 40 million years. There are four distinct layers, or formations that represent life that existed at different points in time.
