Canyonlands National Park Air Quality Monitoring

Air Atlas is a GIS database of air quality estimates for 270 parks that are part of the NPS Inventory and Monitoring Program. These estimates can be used when on-site monitoring data is not available. Air Atlas
Atmospheric Deposition Monitoring
Wet deposition is monitored in Canyonlands NP (1997-present) as part of the National Atmospheric Deposition Program/National Trends Network (NADP/NTN). The site ID is UT09. Dry deposition rates are estimated for Canyonlands NP (site CAN407), 1995-present, as part of the Clean Air Status and Trends Networks (CASTNet).

Night Skies
Optical monitoring to collect baseline data on night sky brightness has been completed at Canyonlands NP. The optical measurement produces not only a measure of night sky brightness and identification of light pollution sources, but also produces a measure of the effect of the atmosphere on light scattering caused by fine particulates and other air pollutants, and moisture.
Ultraviolet Radiation (UV) Monitoring
UV radiation is monitored in Canyonlands NP as part of the PRIMENet program.
Ozone Monitoring
Tropospheric (ground-level) ozone concentrations are monitored in Canyonlands NP (1992-present). The EPA AirData site ID is 490370101.
Visibility Monitoring
Visual air quality in Canyonlands NP has been monitored using an aerosol sampler (1988-present), a transmissometer (1986-present), and a 35mm camera (1982-1995).
