or two decades, park crews have mechanically cleared away ground fuel that accumulates around these treasured giants to reduce the intensity of prescribed burns and then carefully set the managed fire the trees need to survive. Because of this fire program, Sequoia regeneration is up, and the Big Trees are safer from destruction by wildfires with relatively little ground fuel to burn.
