n the Sierra, some
ponderosa and
Jeffrey pine trees are hundreds of years old and tower over a hundred feet
in the air. Not much can kill these mighty giants. Unfortunately, these
magnificent trees are sensitive to ozone air pollution. At the
concentrations presently found in the Sierra, ozone can weaken one of
these trees enough to trigger its eventual death. |
