Wind Cave National Park AQRV's
Surface waters in Wind Cave NP appear to be well-buffered, and current levels of atmospheric deposition are relatively low. Therefore, at this time, it does not appear that aquatic resources in the park are sensitive AQRVs.
There is currently no information regarding the sensitivity of fauna/wildlife in Wind Cave NP to air pollutants.
Dark night skies are considered an important air quality related value at Wind Cave NP, possessing value as a cultural, scenic, natural, and scientific resource. Air pollution and poor quality outdoor lighting degrade night skies, lessening a viewer's ability to see stars and other astronomical objects, and altering the nocturnal scene. Use of high quality lighting that produces very little scattered light can greatly improve the night sky. Reduction of haze from air pollution can also improve the night sky.
Soils in Wind Cave NP appear to be well-buffered, and current levels of atmospheric deposition are relatively low. Therefore, at this time, it does not appear that soils in the park are sensitive AQRVs.
While plants in Wind Cave NP have not been evaluated for ozone injury, species with documented sensitivity to ozone occur in the park. These species are sensitive AQRVs.
