Relationship to Other Guidance

Policies and guidelines that relate directly to management of backcountry recreational use are numerous. The portions of NPS Management Policies that are most relevant include sections of Chapter 8 regarding visitor use and all of Chapter 6: Wilderness Preservation and Management. Specific NPS guidance is included in DO/RM 2 Park Planning; DO/RM 4 Diving Management; DO/RM 12, Conservation Planning, Environmental Impact Analysis, and Decision-making; DO/RM 41 Wilderness Preservation and Management; and DO/RM 53 Special Park Uses.
